Defendant presents three issues on the question of corroborating evidence, and one issue on sentencing. First, he contends the testimony of an accomplice was not sufficiently corroborated and therefore the trial court should have granted his motion for a directed verdict. Second, he contends the trial court failed to properly instruct the jury on defining corroborating evidence. Third, he contends the trial court failed to instruct the jury that the testimony of - Page 228 an accomplice should be viewed with distrust. Fourth, he contends that the trial court imposed a more harsh sentence on him than it did the accomplice because he chose to go to trial rather than plead guilty. We reverse and remand for a new trial on the ground that the trial court failed to instruct the jury that the testimony of an accomplice must be viewed with distrust.
